Why Irish employers need Occupational Health support

Occupational Health Assessments help HR teams and managers understand how an employee’s health may be affecting their ability to work — or how the role itself may be impacting their wellbeing. They provide clear, professional guidance to resolve complex situations and support safe, sustainable working arrangements.

Workplace health remains a major challenge across Ireland. Stress, anxiety, depression and musculoskeletal disorders are among the most common work‑related health issues, often leading to increased absence, reduced productivity and higher operational costs. Effective Occupational Health support helps employers reduce risk and protect both employee wellbeing and business performance.

How do Occupational Health Assessments help businesses?

How Occupational Health Assessments work with HA | Wisdom Wellbeing

Available exclusively to clients with an existing EAP, our clinicians assess an employee’s health condition, their ability to work and any factors within the role that may be affecting their wellbeing. After the assessment, you’ll receive a clear written report with professional recommendations, including any reasonable adjustments that can support the employee and help you manage the case effectively.

We can also advise on suitable return‑to‑work dates, phased return plans and adjustments to duties — for example, reducing manual handling or modifying tasks. Where needed, we highlight whether rehabilitation, short‑term absence or further workplace adjustments would help the employee perform their role safely and efficiently.
